Reigate & Banstead Borough Council has honoured 82 individuals with awards for their selfless service to the borough and its communities.

Forty-nine individuals and teams were recognised last night (Wednesday 31 July) for voluntary efforts in various categories, with a further thirty-three receiving acknowledgements for long service (10 years or more) at a previous event held on July 11. You can find out who was awarded the Long Service Award in our recent  news release.

The two award cremenies - both held at the Town Hall - were organised by the Council.

Inspirational

Presenting the awards, the Mayor of Reigate & Banstead, Cllr Eddy Humphreys said: “I have read all your stories and they are inspirational. As I have said before, the work that volunteers do in our communities is immeasurable. We are all very grateful, and I want to thank you all for giving so much of your time up to make a difference in other people’s lives. You are an inspiration to us all”.

The awards ceremony was split into two events this year, to accommodate the number of nominees and cater for the Long Service Award specifically introduced to commemorate the Council’s 50th anniversary.
