Reigate & Banstead Borough Council is pleased that the trade union GMB has reconsidered its position and agreed to collective talks mediated by ACAS.

These talks are in line with the council’s Collective Bargaining Agreement and aimed at resolving the current pay dispute.

ACAS (the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service) will now mediate collective talks between Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, GMB and the council’s largest union, Unison. These talks are being coordinated and the council hopes a mutually convenient date can be found soon.

As a consequence, GMB has confirmed that proposed strike action – previously mooted for dates in April - has been suspended.

Leader of Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, Cllr Mark Brunt, says; “We welcome GMBs change of position, and look forward to constructive talks with all parties to find a way to move forward together.”
