Do you know someone who selflessly spends their time helping others? Volunteer them for an award today!
This year’s Volunteer Awards are now open for nominations – and we’re looking for those special individuals who do a great amount of valuable work for the borough and its community.
The Mayor of Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, Cllr Keith Foreman, said: “We’re very lucky to have so many enthusiastic and committed individuals in our borough who spend their spare time helping others in a variety of ways.
“These awards enable us to honour particular members of the public who have really gone above and beyond this year.”
In 2020, volunteers can be nominated in five award categories:
- Young Volunteer Award (16 to 25 years old)
- Volunteer Award (over 25 years old)
- Long Service Award (10 years’ service or more)
- Individual Trustee Award (Chairman, Treasurer or Secretary roles)
- Volunteer Team Award (two or more volunteers)
The annual awards scheme, now in its seventeenth year, is run by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council and Voluntary Action Reigate and Banstead. The awards celebrate the role of volunteers and shows appreciation for their time and commitment to helping others.
Alisdair Semple, Trustee of Voluntary Action Reigate & Banstead, said: “Never underestimate the life-changing power of small acts of kindness. We are celebrating just some of the people who make our borough richer through their care and service. One person’s gift of ‘ordinary’ help can simply transform another person’s experience of life. Thank you!”
The closing date for nominations is Friday 1 May.
To qualify, nominees must live and/or volunteer in the borough and not receive any remuneration for their time. Nominees should not be informed of their nomination.

Successful nominees will be invited to a special awards ceremony in July, held at the Town Hall in Reigate.
