Premises
The council can deal with problems associated with properties which are in a poor state of repair and which affect adjacent properties and the occupants within. An example would be a leaking roof or gutter in an adjacent property that is causing dampness problems in your house.
Examples of disrepair include:
- dampness, condensation and mould growth
- damaged asbestos
- faulty or dangerous gas or electrical installations
- vermin or insect infestations
- fumes or gases
- unacceptable noise levels.
We try to resolve problems by offering help and advice but in circumstances where we determine there is a statutory nuisance we can use the powers available in the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
