The Council will work with The Light, Tesco and other commercial tenants to ensure that new jobs created in the development are advertised locally to ensure that local people are prioritised for vacancies.
Look out for new roles being advertised on the Council’s website for job opportunities in the borough: www.rb-works.co.uk - as well as at Jobcentre Plus.

During the construction phase the main contractor, VINCI UK, worked with the Council to promote local employment, training and procurement opportunities with a site-specific Employment and Training Strategy. Some of the highlights achieved during their contract that have contributed to the local economy are:
- A total of 256 local people worked on the site
- Vinci spent £3.1 million with local companies as part of the Marketfield Way contract, including three large contract awards totalling £1.2 million
- Site tours were led by VINCI for students at both East Surrey College and Carrington School. This enabled students to see the development at various stages and hear from a range of VINCI site teams
- Two successful work placements have been held on site in 2022. The first being a student from St Bede’s School, and the second - an adult placement from the Department for Work and Pensions, where a Ukrainian refugee joined the office team for work experience.
