Merstham regeneration

Reigate & Banstead Borough Council has been working with partners, Raven Housing Trust and Surrey County Council, and local residents in Merstham to bring forward investment in the area to improve the quality of life for local people providing new homes, shops, leisure, community and youth facilities and improved infrastructure.

A summary of the achievements to date include:

  • Opening of Merstham Community Hub with new community facilities, Merstham Library and youth club
  • New homes built in Purbeck Close, Portland Drive Parade and Portland Drive
  • Provision of new shops and food outlets on the ‘Triangle site’ next to Merstham Community Hub in Portland Drive
  • Food store and shops built on the former Iron Horse pub site
  • Installation of new pedestrian crossing points along Bletchingley Road and a zebra crossing
  • Pedestrian footpath between Bletchingley Road and Worsted Green

  • Iron Horse Public House site to provide 4 retail units and 10 apartments (application reference 14/00801/F).
  • Community Hub on Bletchingley Road (application reference 14/00849/F)
  • Raven Housing Trust development of residential dwellings on Purbeck Close (application reference 13/01500/F).
  • Demolition of existing properties on Portland Drive and construction of 48 new homes (application reference 13/02289/OUT).
  • Croudace Homes development of residential properties off Bletchingley Road (Woodlands Close) (application reference: 3/02147/RM1).
