The Community Development team lead on the Council response to food and fuel poverty. We actively support and work with our local food banks and food clubs. We have worked to distribute Household Support funding to help ease the impact of recent rises in the cost of living and have made a successful bid for UK Shared Prosperity Funding for a fuel poverty pilot. We support a Community Fridge at the Woodhatch Community Centre and at the Horley Health Hub. We have worked to help extend services to members of our food banks and food clubs by providing links to organisations such as Citizen’s Advice Reigate and Banstead (CARB), Horley Lions, Surrey Community Action and SES Water. By working with advice agencies, charities and companies, we have been able to signpost residents to support to deal with the issues that lead to their need for food and fuel support.
