2. Community energy
Community energy is the delivery of community-led renewable energy, energy demand reduction and energy supply projects. Powering up and powering down. For example this could be a solar PV owned by a Community Benefit Company or trained energy advisers helping local people reduce their energy usage.
The website of Community Energy England can tell you more. Specifically do check Community Energy South for their work in Surrey.
Support from Surrey County Council
Groups can register interest now in SCC's Local Energy Advice Demonstrator project. The project is seeking support from community groups in the area energy advice and signposting.
Let us know what you are doing
Get in touch if you are already working in this field locally. We aim to reduce carbon emissions across the borough and are exploring opportunities for local energy projects with local groups and organisations. Our work includes facilitating collaboration between groups and signposting to relevant available grants.
