Fly-posting
Fly-posting is the act of displaying unauthorised notices or signs on Council or public property, which is enforced under Section 225 of The Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
Reigate & Banstead Borough Council has a zero tolerance policy towards fly-posting and offenders will be prosecuted.
This policy applies equally to commercial ventures, charities and private individuals.
Fly-posting is unsightly, distracting and gives rise to a disproportionate fear of crime.
Areas covered by this policy include:
- greenspaces land
- common land
- manorial waste land
- borough car parks
- all highway land
- highway apparatus i.e. lamp columns and road signs
- traffic lights
- pedestrian barriers
- traffic light junction boxes
- street name plates
