Our commercial waste service

Changes to our service

We currently collect two waste streams from our business customers - refuse and paper and card recycling. However, the government’s new Simpler Recycling legislation requires that businesses recycle four waste streams by April 2027.

In December 2024, The Council’s Executive agreed that we will gradually withdraw our commercial waste service over the next two years and will no longer be accepting new customers.

You can contact us about the changes to our service by email: SimplerRecycling@reigate-banstead.gov.uk

Business collections

We collect two business waste streams:

  • paper and card collected weekly or fortnightly
  • refuse collections tailored to business requirements

We do not operate collection services for business clinical waste or hazardous or special waste.

We collect business waste on all Bank Holidays, with the exception of Christmas where they reflect the residential collections.

Customer responsibilities

It is the responsibility of your business to dispose of your waste, in accordance with the Duty of Care, section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 legislation. Your business must, as a matter of record, keep a copy of the paperwork for two years and have it available for inspection if requested.

Our waste carrier licence can be printed from here (search for Reigate and Banstead)

For further information on the Duty of Care please visit the Environment Agency's website.

For further information about your responsibilities and finding an alternative service provider, see Your business waste section.
