How our suppliers can help support our net zero carbon targets.
We are committed to improving our environment and reducing our carbon footprint to net zero by 2030.
We want to minimise the environmental impact of our procurement of goods, services and works in line with our Environmental Sustainability Strategy. With the help of our suppliers, we can reduce or remove negative environmental impacts within our supply chain.
We expect potential and existing suppliers, including SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises), and their supply chain partners to work with us to meet our Sustainability Commercial Ask.
Where relevant we expect suppliers to:
- Understand and measure the environmental impact of your organisation and the goods/services you provide;
- Have a policy or statement that considers environmental sustainability across your organisation;
- Seek to reduce negative environmental impacts through a clear action plan that focusses on the biggest impacts, with key targets and timeframes. For example, can you improve your building’s energy efficiency? Will you switch to a renewable energy supplier? Will you lower your transport mileage and associated carbon emissions by travelling more sustainably? Could you replace petrol and diesel fleet with electric vehicles?
- Work towards your organisation being carbon net zero by 2030
