Universal Credit

There are three key things you can do to prepare for moving across to universal credit:

• Get a bank account - you will need a bank, building society or credit union account for your monthly payment.
• Get online - you will need to make and manage your Universal Credit claim online. This means you will need an email address. You need basic computer skills to apply for Universal Credit but you can get help if you need it.
• Get budgeting – you will need to start budgeting over the whole month, and in some instances may not get as much money as you were getting.
